How to Get a Sharp PNG From Any SVG

Social profiles, Google Business Profile, Gmail signatures and Google Slides all want a PNG or JPG rather than an SVG. When an SVG is built from shapes, this converter draws it fresh at the size you ask for, so a 4000 px export is as clean as a 400 px one. That is why the vector file is the answer to which source file gives the sharpest export.

Pick the width from where the PNG will be used

A wide logo needs breathing room in a square profile slot: set the PNG on a square canvas with even padding, or follow the link that appears after each export.

What the converter checks in each file

Before and after the export

Recolor the file first in the SVG color editor; afterwards, trim empty margins with the transparent PNG trimmer or retag an existing image with the image DPI converter. Going the other way? Trace a PNG into vector with the logo to SVG tool.

Frequently asked questions

Why do some converters turn my SVG into a 300 × 150 image?

An SVG with a viewBox but no width or height has no fixed size, so browsers draw it at 300 × 150 pixels. This converter reads the viewBox itself, so 0 0 512 128 keeps its 4:1 shape at any width.

Why does the text in my PNG use a different font?

An SVG drawn as an image cannot load web fonts, so live text uses fonts installed on your device; fonts embedded as data still work. For an exact match, outline the text first: Type > Create Outlines in Illustrator, Path > Object to Path in Inkscape, or Flatten in Figma.

Why does my SVG turn into a blurry PNG?

The SVG probably wraps a bitmap: a PNG or JPG placed inside it, common in files from online logo makers. Those pixels cannot gain detail, so exporting larger than the bitmap's own size, shown in the file notes, looks soft. Ask for a vector built from shapes.

Can I export @2x and @3x versions in one go?

Yes. Switch to Scale and enter 1, 2, 3 to get logo.png, logo@2x.png and logo@3x.png for each SVG, downloaded together as one ZIP.

SVG units, viewBox and export scales explained

Browsers convert physical units in an SVG at a fixed 96 pixels per inch. The converter uses the same rule to find the 1x size that scales start from.

When width, height and viewBox disagree

If the width and height have a different shape from the viewBox, the drawing is centered with empty bands, and the export keeps them. Fix the width and height in your editor, or delete them so the viewBox sets the shape.
