What this tool handles

PNG: removes text chunks, compressed text, XMP text, EXIF, modification time and caBX containers.
JPEG: removes EXIF, XMP/APP1, IPTC/Photoshop APP13, comments, JUMBF/APP11 and thumbnails.
WebP: removes EXIF, XMP and C2PA chunks, updating the container flags.
Original compressed image data, transparency, animation and color profiles are retained. Minimal orientation may remain to prevent rotation.

How to use AI Metadata Remover

Select supported files and choose Scan files.
Review each file’s findings, previews and limitations. Metadata previews can contain private information.
Choose Clean scanned files. Each successful output is re-scanned before a download becomes available.
Download individual copies or a ZIP of successful results. Files with errors are excluded; keep the originals.

Questions and limitations

Will the cleaned image look the same?

The raster engine edits metadata containers without re-encoding pixels. It preserves rendering data and ICC color profiles. Multi-picture or gain-map JPEGs are refused because changing their offsets could damage linked images.

Does this remove all evidence of AI generation?

No. It does not remove visible or invisible watermarks, edit pixels, delete external manifests or make an image undetectable. A file without metadata can still have AI origins.

Is my file uploaded or used to train an AI?

No file upload takes place. The tool runs locally and does not use an AI model. Standard website Analytics records page visits and fixed tool-action categories, not your filenames or file content.

How to remove metadata from an image

Choose a JPG, JPEG, PNG or WebP file and select Scan files.
Expand the findings. EXIF, XMP, IPTC and PNG text are different places where metadata can be stored; not every image contains all of them.
Select Clean scanned files. The tool removes supported metadata and checks the output again.
Download the cleaned copy and keep the original separately. Open the copy before publishing.

This metadata cleanup does not resize or re-encode the image pixels. Color profiles and minimal orientation data may remain to preserve appearance; unknown containers are reported and may remain. Do not treat the result as anonymous or AI-undetectable.

Cleaner, checker or editor?

A cleaner removes supported fields. A metadata checker and image metadata viewer inspects them without changing the file. An editor changes individual values such as dates or captions; this tool is not an EXIF editor. For an embedded-credentials workflow, use the C2PA metadata remover.
